Natural Light Portraiture
This digital photography class will introduce the student to a brief history of master photographers who primarily used natural light. Students will get inspired by studying the works of Imogen Cunningham, August Sander, Arnold Newman, and others. Their works will stimulate a discussion of composition, use of light and shadow, mood and ways of directing the subject. The class will then practice new skills with the window light of the classroom and by going outdoors and photographing each other on the grounds of the Hui. By the end of the course, each student will have a good understanding of the ingredients that make up a strong portrait and they will have an 8″x10″ print of their favorite portrait to take home!
