Experience the magic of creating functional ceramics on the potter’s wheel! In this step-by-step introduction to working with clay, students will learn basic terminology and clay properties and will practice proper techniques of wedging, centering, and forming vessels. Every student will finish class with beautifully glazed mugs, bowls, and/or plates.

  Decorating with Texture and Dry Slip Register Now!

Chris will demonstrate how to decorate hand-built pots with texture techniques and colored slips. Known as “dry brushing,” the use of slips in a pudding-like consistency allows the ceramicist to add color to pottery without obliterating texture. Students will have the opportunity to try these techniques on a piece, but firing and glazing will not be offered as part of this seminar.

  Colored Clay & the Art of Inlay Register Now!

Working with line blends and triaxials, students will learn techniques to tint base glaze recipes through systematic color transitions. Bob will also explain how to create test tiles to reference the color gradations achieved.
