Hui No‘eau Visual Arts Center is thrilled to collaborate with East Maui Watershed Partnership to raise awareness about the native species of Maui Nui (Maui, Lana‘i, Molokai, Kaho‘olawe). By offering educational opportunities in coordination with the exhibition, including artist hikes and “Talk Story” sessions with environmental experts, our hope is that Maui artists of all ages will explore our watersheds and express the value these species have within our daily life. Artwork must depict only species native to Maui Nui, a landscape showcasing only native Maui Nui species, or people working to protect Maui’s native species and native habitats. With four entry divisions (open to elementary, middle & high school, and adults), this exhibition is sure to provide powerful visuals that celebrate Maui’s native plant and animal life.
