May 8, 2010Exhibition Kitchen: The Art Show features work by 42 artists that, according to Maui News writer Lehia Apana, “didn’t just step outside of the box- they leaped!” Hui artist Anita Laviola remarked “A lot of times people think of jewelry as only commercial wear, but the Hui doesn't keep it in that kind of box - they really appreciate the art.” The focus of the exhibition was to take a playful swerve away from conventional working methods encouraging unconventional pieces revolving around a place well-known to all: the kitchen.
